Matt focuses his practice in the areas of commercial litigation and construction law. Matt has represented clients across Northern Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland in construction defect, real property, products liability, business tort, and serious personal injury cases. He often represents contractors, general contractors, and homeowners. Matt works with clients to negotiate and litigate claims and strives to deliver representation that is effective and efficient.

Prior to joining Reese Broome, Matt defended individuals and businesses against claims for property damage and serious personal injury and counseled clients regarding insurance law and coverage). Matt recieved his J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law where he was Editor-In-Chief of the Washington and Lee Journal of Energy, Climate, and the Environment and a member of the Moot Court Executive Board. After law school, Matt clerked for the Hon. Victor V. Ludwig in Virginia’s 25th Judicial Circuit gaining valuable experience in Virginia civil procedure. Matt’s experience includes the following*:

• Negotiated settlement on behalf of a general contractor involved in a multi-party property damage claim arising from alleged improper winterization of a commercial HVAC system at a newly constructed office building. Claimed damages were over $200,000;
• Defended commercial tenant in unlawful detainer action allowing tenant to re-negotiate its lease with the landlord;
• Drafted motion resulting in dismissal of neighboring property owner's adverse possession claim;
• Assisted in post-accident response and investigation of catastrophic motor carrier and serious commercial trucking accidents.
